| Working with Resin Info Resin pieces can be glued together using standard modelling superglue. Use clippers or a craft knife to cut off any sprues, don't snap them off. If it is neccessary to sand a piece, you must wear a breathing mask, because breathing in fine dust like resin can be a serious health hazard, we advise to sand it wet using wet/dry sandpaper to minimize dust. Its a good idea to give your resin piece a soapy wash before you undercoat it, use a toothbrush to get into those awkward places. Before glueing, dry fit your kit first, to make sure it all fits together. Gaps can be filled with a modelling putty, Simon reccommends a polyester easy sand car body filler called "Red Dog" for bigger gaps, small imperfections can be filled with a small amount of superglue, remove any excess quickly before it sets. Undercoat with a spray car body primer, or similar undercoat that has enough solvent strength to adhere to the resin. Simon recommends you spray a thin coat of black cellulose primer first, to stop the resin piece appearing transluscent if back lit. |
